Beijing Olympics

How do major events impact on all of us?

Beijing Olympics 2008

For the residents of Beijing I think the Olympic Games had a bit of negative impact on them. Some were forced to move out of their homes just so that Beijing could look impressive for tourists and other countries. This is extremely unfair to those people and I think it’s a violation to their rights. However, because of all the renovations and new buildings there is now more leisure places for those residents to use. This is a positive affect on them as they now have more facilities.

For the whole of China I think it had a positive effect. I think hosting the Olympics at Beijing made the rest of the country proud of their nation. The new stadium and the Olympic village was probably admired by people all over the world as they watched on their TV’s or came and visited, the admiration made Chinese citizens even more prouder to call China their country. I remember when I was watching the Olympics in England and my friends were all saying to me,

“Wow China is really good.”

“The Birds nest stadium looks amazing.”

“Have you been to Beijing before?”

Watching the Olympics being held in my home country definitely made me feel proud even thought I was living in England.

The Olympics itself, wherever its being held, has a great impact on the world. It unites us together and allows amazing talent to be seen world wide. It gives countries a positive, fun competitive side and also lets different nations to show off what they can do and achieve. It brings us together and is a famous event everywhere.
