How do major events affect us?
The Beijing Olympics brought lots of changes to China. Beijing as a city was totally changed as well. The infrastructure that were put in throughout Beijing was amazing. There were 16 more stations built, the highways got longer and broader. Lot of Effort was put in to reduce the pollution level of the city. 1.3 millions cars were regulated on given days and heavy polluting cars were banned so that people could breathe non-polluted air. As well as 200 polluting factories were relocated or shut down for good air quality. Which again had a positive environmental impact on the city. People around the globe and in the city were watching the opening and the closing with their eyes wide open and their mouths going wow! The handling was of top class which made the Chinese people and their nation proud.
Among the local people like taxi drivers and local shopkeepers were forced to learn English for better communication with the tourists. The tourists were inspired by all these. They went back to their country with a positive impact of China and it’s people. Not only this but it also increased the reputation of China and it’s people, around the globe.
There are some negative impact on the city was for those 1.5 million who got homeless, those people who didn’t have safe water to drink. The rates of many articles increased which had a big impact on the poor who only had a specific amount of money they could spend. So the rate was more and the supply back was less.
However, If we see overall then the positive impacts over weights the negative ones. As there is always some cost attached for any thing positive.
